Financial Accountant

Based within the Corporate Finance Department reporting to the Corporate Reporting and Accounting Leader.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake the reporting of corporate financial activity for the legal entities within responsibility
  • Ensure reporting complies with legal, SEC and Group accounting standards
  • Produce IFRS statutory accounts and obtain audit clearance from external auditors
  • Ensure Company financial ledgers are properly maintained and reconciled
  • Ensure compliance with Companies Act, Group norms and IFRS accounting standards
  • Produce reports for audit back up and tax etc
  • Perform SOX controls and provide evidence where required
  • Input hydrocarbon revenue and purchase transactions into SAP; perform reconciliations with Sales and Tariff Revenue Report and Management Accounting files
  • Raise invoices and account for intercompany recharges, third party sales and credit control
  • Preparation of financial accounts for Company to tight guidelines

Education, Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge

  • Qualified accountant (CIMA / CA) with typically 6 years’ experience, 3 years of which will be post-qualification experience
  • Awareness/knowledge of systems and applications
  • Good knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Good knowledge of UK taxation
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
