Junior Consultant - Materials Specialist

Our Reliability & Maintenance Client, based in Aberdeen, is looking for a Junior Consultant – Materials Specialist to join their team on a 6 month contract basis, with potential for extension. The role will include providing technical advice on the suitability of Materials, within a team environment, on a Bills of Materials Optimisation project.

Develop and coordinate initiatives and activities to improve the Clients Material Management Processes, analytical approaches and special processing to meet the needs for global customers

  • Providing technical advice about the suitability of materials
  • Advising on the adaptability of a plant to new processes and materials;
  • Advising on spares required for maintenance and repairs
  • Selecting the best combination of materials for specific purposes;
  • Supervising the work of materials engineering technicians and other staff;
  • Considering the costs implications of materials used and alternatives, in terms of both time and money;
  • Ability to write effective procedures and supplement plant personnel in actually writing operating and maintenance procedures

Education, Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Robust Knowledge in Materials Management
  • Familiarisation and ability interpret P&ID, PFD and Cause & Effect Chart
  • Knowledge in RAM Analysis
  • Knowledge in Reliability Engineering
  • Proficient in the use of CMMS Platforms (SAP & MAXIMO)
  • Use of computer applications (MS Excel, PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Access & MS Project)

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge in Process Safety
  • Project Management skills
  • Ergonomics and Human Management
